School partners
We work with over 60 infant, primary, secondary and special schools in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire to give you the best hands-on experience in the classroom with support from experienced mentors school-based colleagues. This means that we can provide our trainees with a diverse range of schools for their placements. We work with our partner schools to ensure you get the very best out of your training through our school-based colleagues who have a wealth of knowledge and will guide and support you throughout your training to ensure you are well-prepared for your new career as a teacher.
We collaborate with a range of secondary schools across Sheffield and the peak district, enriching the collective expertise within STTA. These schools offer placement opportunities for our trainees.

University partners
We are a Lead Partner with the two universities in Sheffield, ensuring an accessible, central location for the academic element of our courses. Both universities provide academic expertise in their teaching.
The universities award the post-graduate qualification, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the points towards the Masters' level qualification.

The founding school of our alliance is Silverdale, a highly successful secondary comprehensive school in the south of Sheffield.
We are part of the Chorus Education Trust, rooted in the belief that education can change lives. A growing local Trust committed to providing the very best education for all children in our region.
STTA is part of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub, a one-stop-shop of everything related to teaching. It brings together the DfE’s golden thread to help teachers throughout their entire career. This includes:
- Initial teacher training
- Early career framework (ECF)
- Appropriate body (AB)
- Continuing professional development (CPD)
- Delivery of national professional qualifications (NPQs)
- Supporting the local education community
They will be able to point you towards everything you need to start and develop your career as a teacher.
Our sister organisation that runs the only national teacher training courses dedicated to modern languages.
The course has been designed by experts in the teaching of modern languages. They provide training opportunities throughout the country through their geographical hubs,
which makes them uniquely different from other routes into teaching.
