Another fantastic day of training for our trainees! Today, all our trainees came together in Sheffield for a full day of regional, in-person training. It was great to have everyone together in one place, learning, sharing ideas and developing their skills. A highlight of the day was a session on Unconditional Positive Regard, delivered by David Whitaker, Author, and CEO of Wellspring Academy Trust. Our trainees found the session really inspiring, and we received some great feedback about how useful and relevant they found it. They looked at how positive and supportive relationships can make a real difference to behaviour and learning, as well as practical ways to create an inclusive and supportive classroom. The day also included sessions on safeguarding, building confidence in the classroom, and practical ways to inspire and communicate with pupils. A big thank you to David, Katie Anderson and Emma Jane Cooper for delivering such great sessions and sharing their knowledge and experience with our trainees today. What a great day of teacher training! Today was all about subject-specific training, with trainees from across the region coming together to focus on the subjects they will be teaching, including drama, maths, music, science, early years and primary. Sessions took place both online and in person at schools across Sheffield and Derbyshire, as well as at South Yorkshire Teaching Hub's new premises. Trainees had the chance to learn from local facilitators, build their subject knowledge and gain practical ideas they can use in the classroom. Subject days are a great opportunity to share knowledge, work together and learn from teachers and facilitators with experience in their subjects. There will be more subject days throughout their training, helping trainees build the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to prepare for their new careers in teaching.
