School Services

Schools are at the heart of everything we do.

We have worked with over 100 of them since we started, and our network keeps growing - not only in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, but across England via our National Modern Languages SCITT.

We believe that collaboration is the key to our success and that is why we are able to offer such a variety of services for schools. The day to day experiences of colleagues in all phases of education inform everything that we do, ensuring that our range of services is up to date, useful and relevant.

Collaboration and connection

As an alliance, we are more than the sum of our parts. Our mentors, trainers, and tutors are also: teachers, head teachers, Trust CEOs, SEND specialists, middle leaders, primary specialists, subject specialists, heads of department and much more.

That means we reach across all phases of school education, drawing on a wide range of experiences and connections. Our team may be delivering professional learning courses one morning, providing hands-on teaching in the classroom in the afternoon, and then preparing their submission to a government committee for the next day. Their views count - both within our alliance and the wider world of education.

Professional learning with credibility

Our commitment to providing the very best in professional learning is illustrated by a variety of achievements:

  • We are a licensed facilitation school for OLEVI Coaching which is a central tenet of the Improving Teaching Programme (ITP) and the Outstanding Teacher Programme (OTP). OLEVI helps identify the teaching talent already in place, encouraging it to thrive and fostering a relentless culture of excellence. It allows us to raise achievement levels quickly, by developing a self-sustaining coaching model that can also be shared with partner schools.
  • Our lead school, Silverdale, has been awarded Silver status for delivering evidence-based Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and excellence in professional learning, by the Teacher Development Trust (TDT) – the national charity for effective professional development in schools and college.
  • We are licensed to provide the NASBTT [National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers) Level 3 training for mentors, coaches, and facilitators.
  • Our team is asked to provide Quality Assurance to other teaching institutions, such as Leeds Carnegie, other egs to go here.
  • We were chosen to provide Teacher Specialist Subject Training (TSST) in both Physics and Modern Languages.
  • We have facilitated a number of subject networks locally, to ensure staff has the opportunity to meet with colleagues and share research and best practice.

School to school support at the arrowhead of educational development

Support for schools runs through everything we do - from the mentors we train and support for Initial Teacher Training and NQT induction, to the 24 schools we work with on our city-wide literacy project, and our subject specialists who train colleagues to teach a new science or language.

We have over 30 Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs) within our alliance. These are colleagues who are regularly in classrooms, often through Quality Assurance visits as well as their own teaching, allowing them the opportunity to reflect and improve upon their own practice. They aim to bring capacity to your teams, as well as expertise in their particular area. You can find out more about our team of SLEs here.

We can support schools in a variety of ways, tailoring what we deliver to your organisation’s specific context.
